On July 27, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Kim Young-Rok visited the Korea National Food Cluster. He was briefed on the progress of the construction of the Korea National Food Cluster, had a look at business support facilities, and discussed establishing a special act for the promotion of the Korea National Food Cluster and orientations for stage 2 project development.

The ministerial visit was attended by members of the National Assembly, chairpersons of provincial branches of political parties, the Administrative Deputy Governor of North Jeolla Province, Mayor of Iksan City, and representatives of businesses in the Korea National Food Cluster.

His visit to the Korea National Food Cluster began with a report on the progress of the Korea National Food Cluster project. Before having an inside look, Mr. Kim had time to understand the progress of the construction of the Korea National Food Cluster, and the standings of businesses therein and investment attracted.

Then a bull session with food company representatives followed. The minister said that the government will give full support to the stage 2 project with the aim to vitalize the Korea National Food Cluster. He also delivered words of encouragement that the Korea National Food Cluster would play leading roles in the nation’s food industry and respond to the increasingly diversifying global food market.

After the meeting, the minister had a firsthand look at the business support facilities in the Korea National Food Cluster. Mr. Kim first stopped by at the food packaging center, which is one of the business support facilities the Korea National Food Cluster proudly offers. It provides business with one-stop packaging services to help them produce export-oriented processed food products hence create more added values.

Then he visited BTC, a resident in the Korea National Food Cluster that had started construction work for the first time. In June, BTC completed the construction of a GMP natural ingredient processing factory in the Korea National Food Cluster, which will empower the company to prepare for another leap.

With the ministerial visit, the Korea National Food Cluster reiterated its resolution to grow as a hub for the development of the nation’s agri-food industries and called on for the government’s efforts. It also served as a precious opportunity for the cluster to further attract investment and expand business support. Underpinned by citizens’ interests and the government’s support, the Korea National Food Cluster will exert its utmost efforts for the development of the Korean food industry.
