DLG Food Test & Korea-Germany International Symposium, held by Foodpolis Support Center

The Foodpolis Support Center will host Korea’s first DLG Food Test and also the Korea-Germany International Symposium in order to boost consumer confidence and Korea’s export competitiveness, especially for products of resident companies in the Korea National Food Cluster and other domestic food companies.

The German Agricultural Society (DLG), an international non-profit organization representing the German agricultural industry, promotes technological development and scientific progress in the food and agricultural industries. With a membership of more than 23,000, DLG has supported the launch of DLG-marked products through seminars and educational activities, international trade shows, publication of books and magazines on food and agriculture, and food/beverage testing.

The DLG Food Test is a food quality contest held by DLG Food Test Center, which is Europe’s oldest food quality assessment agency. Over 3,000 experts of the Center annually evaluate more than 30,000 products in 21 categories. For the first time in Korea, 155 processed-meat products are being evaluated for three days (from September 25 to 27) at the Korea National Food Cluster, and 14 companies including the Cluster’s resident companies such as Harim and Myeonggaram Food, as well as Cheil Jedang, Daesang, and Dongwon F & B will participate in the event as exhibitor

Twelve DLG judges will be attending the DLG Food Test in Korea. Evaluation criteria are divided into ① external packaging; ② product appearance; ③ physical properties; ④ flavor; and ⑤ taste. The judges will first evaluate the appearance of the products, cut them with a knife to check the contents, and then taste them after cooking.

On the 27th (Friday), the symposium will be held under the theme of “Korea-Germany Meat-Processing Industry Trends and Quality Assurance Standards” jointly by DLG and the Korea Meat Processing Association along with the awards ceremony for the Food Test.
